Organizing as a Form of Self-Care

When it comes to mindfulness coping and self-care, as already discussed, there can be many forms. It does not matter what you do – the goal is to get you to feel relaxed. The only thing we look out for is that your mindfulness technique does not cause you physical harm.

Organizing

As much it sometimes may be overlooked, organizing is a great way of performing self-care. Organizing your physical environment can also help “clean up” your mental surroundings. Cleanliness and organization in our physical environment affect us in more ways than we might be able to notice immediately.

Below are some benefits of keeping your home organized –

  • More confidence in entertaining guests

Having a clean and organized home leaves that out as an excuse not to invite your friends and other guests over. Of course, friends and family can offer great social fuel and support, leading to an increase in mental well-being.

  • More likely to engage in exercise

Living in disorganized environments tends to drain our energy and motivation. Hence, organizing your home environment can help your energy levels, leading you to do other activities that help your mental well-being – like exercising.

  • Quality time relaxing

Having a clean house and help you fall asleep faster and more deeply, leading to feel more relaxed as you rest and sleep.

  • More time to engage in other activities

Instead of spending your time organizing, you now have time to do other simple activities at home – like reading, dancing, playing games, knitting, etc. These types of activities sharpen your mental perception and help relax you.

  • Eating healthier

Some studies showed that those living in cleaner and more organized environments tended to choose healthier food options throughout their day.
