The Importance of Having a Routine

Some people absolutely shudder at the thought of having predictable and though-out schedules. However, there are individuals that prefer a more organized daily routine. During times of stress, having a solid routine can help maintain control and make you feel more settled.

There have been numerous disruptions in  daily routines of so many people due to COVID-19, which has made it drastically harder to cope with stress. Therefore, when times are uncertain, these routines can be essential in order to establish healthier habits.

Negative Impacts of Not Having a Routine

A lack of structure and routine can actually exacerbate feelings of distress and make you pay more attention to the source of your problems. Often when we do not have a routine, we have less to focus on. Consequently, we find ourselves thinking about the more stressful situations that lead to anxiety.

The absence of a routine can often lead to stress and feelings of unmanageability. Creating daily routines in the morning and at bedtime can create structure in our unpredictable lives and, therefore, protect us against harmful stressors and triggers
